PASTOR BILL & KATIE PRATER
Pastor Prater was saved at Fellowship Baptist Church in September of 1976 as a bus kid. He later surrendered to full-time ministry and went to Baptist Bible College West in Denver, Colorado. It was there that he met his wife Katie. The Praters were married, and joined the staff of Fellowship Baptist, in June of 1981.
Pastor Prater served the Lord in various capacities including Music Director, Youth Pastor, and Associate Pastor before assuming the leadership of Fellowship Baptist as Senior Pastor in May of 2000.
Katie has always been very active in the ministry alongside her husband teaching Kindergarten, First and Second grade and coaching volleyball in Fellowship Baptist School, as well as overseeing the ladies ministries, and spending many hours a week in visitation.
The Praters have three children. Their oldest son T. J., and his wife Sheena, live and attend church in Burden, Kansas. Tyler, and his wife Jennilee, live in Liberal and are both graduates of Heartland Baptist Bible College in Oklahoma City where Pastor Prater serves on the Executive Committee. Tyler and Jenilee serve full-time on the FBC church staff. Tiffany, also lives in Liberal, and is pursuing a career in nursing.
In addition to his church ministry, Pastor Prater serves as the Senior Chaplain for the Liberal Police Department. He is also a certified law enforcement officer in the state of Kansas and works part-time for the department as a patrol officer.
Pastor Prater is very active in community affairs serving on the board of directors of LEAD (Leadership Enrichment and Development). He also facilitates leadership training sessions for various city and county entities, the local school district, and various other professional organizations.
